“Hi, I’m Josh and my favourite sport is Rugby!
I started my Decathlon journey in 2012 as a Department Manager in the Nottingham store. After 3 months of training I took on the Mountain Sports department where I led a team of 6 Sports Advisors. The best part of this role was gaining a real understanding of my customer’s needs and how to make the right commercial decisions to make them happy.
In 2013 I moved to the Lakeside store where I took on the role of Operations and Customer Services Manager. In this position I took responsibility for both health & safety and efficiency around store. Here, I developed a passion for promoting excellent customer service and with my team of 12 Customer Service Advisors, we worked together to implement new strategies to please our local customers. On top of this, I also put myself forward to lead a national strategy to boost security and stock accuracy in stores. I had a lot on my plate but it encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone.
A short time later, I moved back to Nottingham to become the Store Manager, my dream job! It is here where I truly learned how to manage a multi million pound business. In 2017, with the help from my amazing team, I project managed a large store refurbishment. More recently and alongside my role as Store Manager, I deliver national trainings on recruitment and also lead the national marketing strategy for my passion, Rugby.
Throughout my time at Decathlon I have had the fortune to travel to different countries including France, Spain and Turkey. I have had the freedom from day one to grab every opportunity that takes my interest and more importantly, I have made the best connections with my teammates mainly through playing sport together and celebrating our continued success”.
