As a Communication Intern at Decathlon UK, you’ll be learning how to manage multiple projects with different contexts during your placement, right from day one. To put it simply, the purpose of your role during this internship is to oversee communications, events and partnerships within the retail setting of our flagship store in Surrey Quays, London. From day one you’ll be on the ground on the shop floor, overseeing communications and events in store and ensuring all events and partnerships planned are in line with the overall long term strategy.

Internship Details

  • Location: Decathlon UK Head Quarters, London - Surrey Quays, Canada Water Retail Park, 9 Maritime Street, London, SE16 7FU

  • Duration: 3 months (June - September/July - October)

  • Start Date: June or July

  • Allowance: £500 a month

What’s involved?

You will collaborate with the Surrey Quays store communication and events leader, as well as the wider communication team in order to plan and execute exciting events and partnerships for our flagship store. Your main goal will be to oversee communications and events in store, collaborating with internal teams and external organisations to create long lasting partnerships for the future.

 

You’ll be involved in these key projects:

  • Overseeing our first-ever VR Tennis Event in store, launching during Wimbledon. This will run from June - September and will play a big part of your success in this role!

  • The organisation of the company-wide World Clean Up Day taking place in September, in collaboration with the Sustainability leads.

  • Creating and leading sports partnerships for the store.

  • B2B collaboration with organisations to improve brand awareness at a local level.

 

You’ll gain invaluable experience in the following: 

  • Communications management and how this filters down from the national communications project to a local level in store

  • Events management 

  • Business management including B2B

Who Are You?

  • A self-starter with a passion for sport!

  • Studying Communications, Marketing or similar at University, OR studying Project Management or Business with a passion for/specialisation in communications/marketing.

  • A people person who is prepared to go the extra mile.

  • Problem solver with excellent communication skills.

  • Able to play as part of the team during the busiest times.

  • Previous events organisation experience is a plus!
