As the Department Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of running your own-business. To put it simply, the purpose of your role is to make sure that your local customers can get everything they need to practice their favourite sports and most importantly; they have an amazing shopping experience in the process.


You will be in charge of the upstairs department in the store consisting of Cycling, the Workshop, Racket sports, Horse riding, Fishing, Country sports, Roller and Scooters.



What's involved?

  • Leading the animation and daily running of the workshop and second-life project in store. Repairing defective products, such as tent’s, kayaks, bikes etc and reselling them as ‘second life’. We aim to repair 85%+ of our ‘faulty’ products
  • Launching the ‘buy back’ scheme in 2022/23 as part of Decathlon UK’s strategy
  • Commercial merchandising - Boosting in store turnover share of ‘eco-design’ products. By 2023 Decathlon United has committed that 50% of our products will be made of recycled materials.
  • Being the leader in re-organising our stores layout. Our trajectory is to have our Workshop and a designated area for reusable products by early 2023 close to the entrance of the store. You will help create the new store mass plan.
  • People management including; recruitment, training and development.
  • Economic analysis and projection

Starting salary: £23,000-£25,000 Base salary (Additional 10% performance bonus per quarter)

Additional Information:

As a Department Manager you will be required to work usual retail hours including evenings and weekends. The role will be shop-floor based with full Covid-19 safety regulations and precautions in place. The safety of our teammates and customers is our main priority during these times.
