The job: 

As Decathlon's Social Media Lead, you'll manage a dynamic team to boost our brand's online presence and engagement. Your role involves crafting and executing effective strategies, managing budgets, and fostering authentic connections within our online community. 

 

With your expertise and passion for content and social media trends, you'll drive growth for the UK's largest sports retailer. Your deep understanding of social media platforms and our UK audience positions you as a valuable asset, contributing to the revitalisation of UK communications and alignment with Decathlon UK's broader goals. 

 

Your responsibilities: 

 

Develop and lead the Organic social & influencer strategy for Decathlon UK. 

  • Lead and execute the organic social media strategy, aligning it with the overarching marketing strategy.

  • Led the national influencer strategy to boost brand awareness and product consideration across the entire product range, including managing influencer gifting campaigns and relationships in line with the social media executive.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for sharing insights, recommendations, and progress updates to maintain transparency and alignment across the organisation. 

  • Craft and launch social-first campaigns that align with overall business objectives and seasonal campaigns.

  • Responsible for daily social media management across key channels.

  • Manage and streamline store-related social media activities for increased efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the marcomms team to handle crises effectively.

  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure social media strategies align with broader business goals.

  • Manage collaborations with external brands to expand the reach and impact of our own brand.

  • Responsible for  the social media budget for optimal resource allocation including planning the trajectory and validation of spending/invoices

 

Content Management

  • Demonstrate confidence in your editorial vision and editing skills, spanning various formats such as video, blogs, and Always On content.

  • Expand the UK content library through collaborative efforts with internal brands, content creators, local team members, and the creative studio.

  • Drive innovative concepts that align with brand standards and current trends.

  • Manage creators on campaigns, ensuring work is delivered within scope and budget.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest content marketing trends, best practices, and emerging channels.

  • Continuously integrate new strategies and tactics to elevate content efforts.

  • Manage collaborations with other brands to extend our brand's reach and impact.

 

People Management

  • Provide leadership to the social media executive in daily community management,  social media execution and content creation, ensuring the fostering of meaningful interactions across social channels.

 

Skills needed for the job:

  • Passionate Brand Builder: Enthusiastic about social media brand building.

  • A proven track record in delivering results. This could be the client side or the agency side.

  • Community Builder: Proficient in fostering connections, creating buzz, and employing social media best practices.

  • Skilled in influencer relationship management.

  • Data Analysis: Proficient in data analysis and reporting.

  • Stakeholder Management: Capable of influencing senior stakeholders, including C-Suite and global teams.

  • Collaborative: Works effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams.

  • Creative Thinker: A creative force with innovative ideas.

  • Paid Social Media Knowledge: Basic understanding of paid social media strategies.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, experienced in using content analytics tools.

  • Design & Editing Software: Familiarity with design and editing software like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and Premier Pro is a plus.

 

Who are you? 

  •  You are passionate about sports!

  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar role 

  • Proven track record of working with influencers and creators  

  • Understanding of the market (sports retail) 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

 

Specific requirements/Work environment:

This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least three days a week in our London office (Surrey Quays)
